We Do NOT Support Breed Bans!
We believe people are the
problem, not the dogs!
We firmly believe that the dogs are not the problem.  Owners need to be held accountable for the actions of their
dogs.  If you own a Pit Bull, Pit Bull mix, or any dog that people frequently misidentify as a Pit Bull, you need to
make absolutely certain that your dog is better behaved than the average pet dog.  This is an unfair double
standard, but it is critical to make strides to ensure the safety of your dog and others.  A Breed Ban will be
ineffective for the following reasons:
  • A ban on a breed will only affect the law abiding citizens who had good dogs to begin with.  Those who do follow
the laws will either have to find their dogs a new home outside of the state, choose to move themselves out of
the state or surrender their dog to be killed by the state.  People who do not follow laws will not surrender
their dogs, thereby removing the good examples of the breed from the population and leaving the worst behind
    to continue to create more.
  • These pet dogs will not simply be sent away where they can live out their lives, THEY WILL BE KILLED!
  • By simply removing one breed from circulation, people looking to use dogs for poor purposes will simply move on to
another breed.  Banning dogs one breed at a time will not solve the situation.
  • Criminals need to be addressed.  The dogs are simply a symptom.  If legislators do not fix the real problem,
we will continue to repeat this ineffective "answer".
  • Despite outrageous media reports, there are 6-12 deaths per year due to dogs (and there is no one breed
responsible!).  Approximately half of those are children.
  • MORE CHILDREN ARE KILLED BY THEIR OWN PARENTS EVERY DAY THAN ARE KILLED BY DOGS EACH
YEAR.  SADLY, THE MEDIA FEELS THIS IS TOO COMMON TO REPORT ON!
  • People are usually unable to identify a "Pit Bull".  Any dog with a muscular build and a wide face will be at risk
of being seized due to misidentification!
  • To test your own ability to identify a "Pit Bull" (I always thought I was pretty good, and it took me three
    tries!) please see: www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html

adores children.
