What is "Hounds Around Town"? It is a group class that meets in various locations
around Merrimack, Nashua and Bedford (and always open to suggestions for other
appropriate locations) to practice manners in public places with a variety of
distractions. This is the single most "real life" class you will ever encounter! This
class will give you the tools to begin taking your dog everywhere and really enjoy
their company, as well as to make them a welcome guest where ever you go.
This class will cover the exercises you have learned in the class room setting and
then take it on the road; heeling, sit, down, stay around distractions, watching or
greeting strangers politely in public (no jumping!), hanging out calmly and leave it will
be reviewed and practiced weekly.
In order to attend this class you *must* have completed a minimum of Level 2 or
have worked in private lessons already with Puppy, Please!
Mandatory materials for each class will be "pick up bags" for public clean up of any
dog waste, a current Rabies certificate (must be carried on you at all times to
every class), a leash, a flat collar, Gentle Leader or Easy Walk Harness, bait bag (no
plastic baggies on pockets for this one), clicker, mat for your dog to lie on during
stays and hanging out, and a few dollars to buy items at the pet friendly stores or
food stands we may work at.
